The Second Annual Race for Wade will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Old Economy Park in Economy, Pennsylvania. The Race for Wade is a 5k race started by friends of Wade's family with the intention to raise funds in order to help this local 14-year-old boy and his family offset medical costs. Caring for a child with special needs impacts the entire family. Roles and responsibilities change, routine becomes disrupted and difficult decisions are made that most will never have to face.  This event exists to lighten the family's load, just a bit.

Who is Wade?

Wade M. was diagnosed at birth with Klippel Trenaunay Syndrome (KTS - a Vascular Anomaly).  Because of
this rare disease, Wade struggles with chronic pain ranging from mild, which he deems normal, to quite severe.
Wade’s future is uncertain, as there is currently no cure for KTS. To date, he has had countless minor procedures,
one major surgery, and he still requires on-going therapy. The current treatment plan includes many more surgeries
in the foreseeable future.  Even with insurance, the financial burden for this family is overwhelming. The proceeds
from this 5k race will go directly to the family to be used for such things as aqua therapy, experimental procedures
not covered by insurance, and travel expenses to and from various out of state Children’s Hospitals.
